Last Friday in the port of Busan has been dubbed the Vale Rio de Janeiro and the Vale Italy, two new very large carrier-hours (VLOC) built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Group Co. (DSME) on behalf of the Brazilian mining Vale. These are the last two in a series of seven ships ordered by the South American portaminerali South Korean group.
The Vale Rio de Janeiro was taken over Friday, while Italy will be delivered to the Vale at the end of next month. The latter will be used primarily for transporting iron ore between Brazil and the establishment of the group Riva Ilva Taranto.
