Today, in the fourth edition of the International Innovation Forum which will end tomorrow in St. Petersburg, the Russian governor of the city administration, Georgy Poltavchenko, marine mechanics and the chairman of the Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Roman Trotsenko , have signed an agreement to create a new cluster of shipbuilding in St. Petersburg.
Poltavchenko said that in St. Petersburg on the shipbuilding industry is under heavy development and the city has the primary objective to build a complex on the island of Kotlin marine mechanics.
Trotsenko reported that one of the first initiatives for the creation of the cluster will be the establishment of a center for engineering, planning and organization for the production of marine resources to be used for Arctic exploration.It is expected that the cluster will host approximately 200 companies engaged in shipbuilding and manufacture of components. "The goal - said the president of USC - will replace imports of equipment that are not yet available in Russia."
