In the first seven months of 2011 the volume of containerized shipping to and from Europe amounted to 23,237,100 TEUs, with an increase of 7.8% over the same period of 2010. According to data released by Container Trades Statistics (CTS), the company notes that the evolution of the quantities of containerized cargo transported by sea to Europe for the World Liner Date (WLD) and on behalf of the European Liners Affairs Association ( ELAA), the consortium owner in liquidation as a result of the withdrawal of anti-trust exemptions for liner conferences applied by the European Union from October 18, 2008, in the period from January to July this year the volume of maritime traffic in containerized exports from Europe amounted to 9,917,000 teu (+8.1%), while those imported amounted to 13,320,100 TEUs (+7.6%).
In the month of July traffic to and from Europe amounted to 3.4931 million TEUs, up 7.4% on July 2010, of which 1.5018 million TEUs in exports (+8.7%) and 1,991,300 TEUs in imports (+6.5%).
