In the first half of 2011, the German seaports handled a traffic of 144.1 million tonnes of cargo, with an increase of 6.4% over the first half of last year. Export traffic - announced today the Federal Statistical Office of Germany - amounted to 55.2 million tons (+7.6%) and one in 85.8 million tons import (+5.9% ), while domestic traffic totaled 3.2 million tons (-2.0%).
If traffic has experienced significant growth over the first half of 2010, however, is still far from pre-crisis levels of 2008, the year in the first half was handled a record volume of 162.4 million tons of goods.
Only in the container sector in the first half of 2011 has been filed with a traffic of 7.5 million TEUs, an increase of more than 20% over the first half of last year.
