The terminal operator DP World of Dubai Group announced that the new London Gateway container terminal, under construction on the north bank of the River Thames just outside London, will become operational in the fourth quarter of 2013 and will initially have a capacity of 1.6 million traffic TEUs of containers a year.
In today's announcement of the group emphasized that the project, work began in January 2010 has already generated 600 new jobs over the next few months will create a thousand jobs, including 700 in the building and the landing port 300 port activities, as well as to reach a total of 36,000 jobs provided in the terminal fully operational. According to estimates, the new container port will provide the United Kingdom the annual revenue of around 3.2 billion pounds.
DP World has announced that the terminal will be equipped with eight quay cranes manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua of China Heavy Industry Co.(ZPMC), able to operate on container capacity of 18,000 TEUs, which will add square crane provided by the group Cargotec ( of 4 October 2011).
