Today the headquarters of the Port Authority of Trieste was a meeting between the leaders of the port and the port of Rostock Julian, which led to the signing of a cooperation agreement with the objective to develop intermodal rail transport of containers and other units load along the line connecting the two seaports and their hinterland economic areas of the Baltic and the North Adriatic.
By signing the agreement the parties agree to enter a path of cooperation for the realization of new products and enhance transportation as much as possible the integration of their networks, drawing on their specific operational and organizational skills in the form synergistic and collaborative in order to implement their respective areas of influence on the market in Northern Europe and Central and Eastern Europe and widen the sphere of its customers by expanding the supply of transport.
The Trieste port authority said that the agreement is in line with the guidelines pursued by the respective states and regions belonging to the central-eastern Europe, for the development of the Multimodal Corridor Adriatic Sea, in view of its inclusion in 'field of TEN-T, and that this initiative, the first of its kind, it moves in line with the principles set by the European Parliament with the Regulation No 913/2010 of 22 September 2010 laying down rules for the creation and organization of international rail corridors for the transport of goods competitive setting itself the goal of preparing an offer of adequate land transport needs of the market and aimed to promote 'intermodality.
