Results down for Wärstilä Corporation in the third trimester



In the third trimester of this year the Finnish group Wärstilä Corporation has recorded an sensitive bending of the economic performances having had totaled a profit before the taxes of 83 million euros on revenues for 851 million euros, down respective of 41% and 18% on the correspondent period of 2010. The operating result is piled to 94 million euros (- 20%).

In the period July-september of the 2011 group has confiscated new orders for a value of 1.118 million euros, in increase of 11% regarding the third trimester last year. The total value of the orderbook of Wärstilä on 30 September piled to 4.042 million euros, decreasing of 5% regarding on September 30, 2010.

Wärstilä last year has archived item the first nine months of the 2011 with a profit before the taxes of 298 million euros on revenues for 2.970 million euros respect to a profit before the taxes of the same value on revenues for 3.091 million euros in the period January-september. The operating result is dropped of 1% to 324 million euros. In the first nine months of this year the group has totaled new orders for 3.267 million euros (+9%).

In the third trimester of this year the single division Ship Power of the Finnish group has recorded new total orders for 196 million euros, with an increment of 11% on the same period of 2010. In the first nine months of the 2011 new orders obtained from the division they have been attested to 675 million euros (+41%) and the value of the pocketbook orders at the end of the period has reached 1.740 million euros (- 15% on on September 30, 2010).

Commenting such results the new president and managing director of Wärstilä Corporation, Björn Rosengren, that he has assumed these assignments 1°th September, has emphasized as the performances of the group are important under many points of view: "the ability to resumption of Wärstilä in terms of solid profit and increase of the new orders in all and the three branches of business - it has explained - offers good possibility to us for the future. Besides the active Offshore segment, the new orders of our joint venture are increased remarkablly Korean, that LNG is specialized in motor dual-fuels for the ships. This emphasizes our strong presence in the market of the engines to gas. The division Power Plants has obtained some important orders that they join to a good total increase of the orders. The customers of the mining field, utilities and the independent producers of energy have actively placed orders".

"The third trimester - it has added Rosengren - has been developed as from waits in terms of clean revenues, that they have been inferior regarding last year. This development is determined mainly by the tempistica of the deliveries. If a part of the marine field is suffering the uncertainties of economical the total one, the market of the services to the energy production is stabler. A little more in the long term we catch a glimpse good perspectives tied to the services for the atmosphere. Although sharpening itself of the uncertainties for the world-wide economy of this trimester, our perspectives of revenues and profits for year 2011 remain unchanged".
