Fine of 169 million euros of the EU to 14 shipment houses in order to have place in existence four trusts



The EU commission has comminato fines for 169 million euros to 14 primary international shipment houses that in order to have participated in period 2002-2007 - Brussels has explained - to four distinguished trusts that had the objective to define commercial practical rates and in the field of the shipment services for aerial way in contrast with the normative antitrusts of the EU. Such concertazione has mainly regarded the airlines between Europe and the USA and China Hong Kong and Europe.

The Commission has specified that to the German group Deutsche Post (and its branches DHL and Exel) is cancelled the entire entity of the fine as he has been the first operator to signal the existence of the trusts to the same Commission. Moreover Deutsche Bahn (included the branches Schenker and BAX), CEVA, Agility and Yusen has benefitted of reductions from 5% to 50% on the base of their collaboration to the investigations of the Commission.

The EU commission has evidenced as in the course of the investigation it has seen the light of day that, in the majority of the cases, the societies fined have adopted specific measures in order to hide the action of the trusts, as for example employing coded names or using accounts of e-mail created purposely in order to facilitate the exchanges of information between the participants to the trusts.

"In times of crisis - the vice president of the EU commission has declared, Joaquín Almunia, in charge of the competition - it is still more important to place fine to hidden taxes that these trusts impose on our economy. These trusts have hit people and societies who send goods on broken important commercial. Many European exporter and consumers can be damaged because of this. The companies would have to be aware that to exceed the limits and to put themselves in agreement on the prices can cost they dear, as it demonstrates the today's decision".
