In the within of European project INWAPO "sea Upgrading of inland waterways and ports", that it has the objective to improve the intermodal transport and to upgrade the marine and fluvial transport which sustainable alternative to the transport on long rubber three systems of water ways - the ports of the Adriatic North (Venice, Trieste, Koper), the ports of the Danube (Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, Komarno, Sturovo), the Czech and Polish ports until the Baltic Sea (the systems of Elba, Vistola and Oder) - the Harbour Authority of Trieste will realize the analysis of the potential volume of traffic generated from the goods agroindustrial, the definition of some confrontabili indicators with those of the other ports the involved in the project in order to characterize eventual necessities in infrastructures (and consequent investments) and a study of feasibility in order to improve the relations with the logistics centers and main European aces of transport.

Project INWAPO, of triennial duration with conclusion in September 2014, previews the analysis of the potential one of fluvial and marine traffic, the identification of the criticalities of existing infrastructures, the study of the feasibility of the potenziamento of the intermodal services with the location concerted between the partner of the actions to undertake. The project has a total budget of about 3,8 million euros and the contribution to the Harbour Authority of Trieste piles to about 138 thousand euros.
