Saipem, Saint George of the Black Port and Group have introduced the new pole of planned naval demolition to Piombino



Saturdays to Florence the Saipem group, Saint George of the Black Port and the Group have introduced own project for the construction and management of a system of controlled naval demolition, or ship recycling, in the port of Piombino, with the objective to make of a point of reference in the Mediterranean for the ships to start on the dismantling.

The subdivision of the spaces of the system planned for Piombino previews an area of dock for the initial mooring of the ships and the preparation to the demolition, an area partially destined deck to the workings in which the real operations of demolition and a logistic area dedicated to the offices and the pause of means will be carried out for staff and for the transport of the materials. The three companies have announced to have currently introduced to the Harbour Authority of Piombino and Elba request of pluriennale concession for the structures of the port of Piombino in phase of completion.

One previews that the first ships to demolish could be received within the half of 2016 once that the harbour infrastructures will be completed, will have carried out the iter autorizzativo and will be prepared all the necessary equipments for the start of the activity of naval demolition.

They are previewed by the 80 until the 250 occupied. Various the professionalities that will be involved in the activities: experts in naval and environmental engineering, assigned to the logistics and handling of the materials, operators for the demolitions and taking aparts, experts in management of the refusals and the materials of turn out, environmental thematic experts in for the conduction of the monitorings and the environmental analyses and safety and quality. On April 24, 2014 the government, the Tuscany Region, the Province of Livorno, the Municipality and the Harbour Authority of Piombino has undersigned an Agreement of Program that previews a engagement by the government for the start of the activities of naval dismantling to Piombino through the demolition of a first lottery of ships of the Marina Militare Italiana who will represent an important first store clerk for the area.
