Carnival orders to nine new cruise ships to Fincantieri and Meyer Werft



The crocieristico group American Carnival Corporation has signed agreements with the shipbuilding societies Fincantieri and Meyer Werft for the construction of nine cruise ships with delivery in the arc of period 2019-2022. The understandings include options for other ships let alone the satisfaction of the credit schemes for the realization of the constructions.

The Italian navalmeccanico group will construct five ships of new generation, that they will be realized in the ship yards of Monfalcone and Marghera, while the German Meyer Werft will construct four in the plant of Papenburg, in Germany, and that of Turku, in Finland.

Fincantieri has evidenced that the memorandum of understanding represents a new impulse to the cooperation with Carnival Corporation, than for the first time leads to a program of such capacity that - it has emphasized the navalmeccanico group - "not only has most remarkable the strategic valence for the shipbuilding one but for the entire national economy. The agreement in fact - Fincantieri has explained - in the long term delineates a plan of activity by one of the greater foreign investor in Italy, the American group Carnival Corporation, that it has invested in the Country beyond 25 billion dollars by virtue of the partnership with Fincantieri. From the 1990 today Fincantieri in fact it has constructed 59 ships for Carnival Corporation, and others seven unit for the group are currently in the pocketbook orders of the society".

Moreover Fincantieri has found that "under the technological profile this collaboration marks a point of carried out in the segment of reference market, as the units object of the agreement will be based highly on innovative projects, that they will carry in the fleet of Carnival Corporation the ships of next generation, each second realized the peculiarities of the various brands of the group. Fincantieri, on the base of own experience matured in 25 years of activity in the field - it has specified the company - will cure the development of the concept until the definition of the final projects, from which they will take life most efficient and advanced ships to the world in the yards of Monfalcone and Marghera. These units will operate in the markets consolidated of Carnival Corporation, North America and Europe, but also in those new ones, as China".

The crocieristico group American has remembered that the next steps of own plan of widening and modernization of the fleet preview the income of two new ships in the course of 2015 in substitution of four units: Britain has entered to take part of the fleet of British brand P&O Cruises UK and the AIDAprima will be introduced in the fleet of the German brand AIDA Cruises.
