Paolo d' Amico, president of the Federation of the Shipping Sea and past president of the Italian Confederation (Confitarma), speeds up measures in order to safeguard the industry and the Italian marine economy. Taking part today to Milan to the Geopolitical convention "and economy of the sea", organized from CERTeT - MEMIT University Bites and from General staff of Marina, of Friend he has emphasized that "Italy must operate by now a choice and trare of reason for consequent actions. The choice - it has explained - is between limiting itself to a slow industrial and logistic decline that makes of our Country only the favorite destination of international tourism or if to maintain instead, beside this also important role, also that of great center of manufacture and export: a role that Italy has been earned with the ability, the dedication, and the courage of our people and that it would be indeed a sin to lose".

According to d' Amico, "in order to maintain a vanguard position industrial is more and more necessary an adapted development of infrastructures and the logistics, so as to assure quick, effective and economic transports between the national or European productive areas and that great door on the world that is the sea. This - it has found - must be made with speed, in order to pick those positive signs that are, as the interest to integration of Europe and the Mediterranean. They are in fact the ships and the ports that substance gives to the development and to the interchange that alloy the countries of the Mediterranean: only the marine transports of line that tie Italy to other Countries of the basin (the so-called "international freeways of the sea"), between arrivals and departures, in a year are gone up to 130 to week (+20%), than they join to the 260 existing between the ports of the Country".

Paolo d' Amico has remembered that the Italian marine cluster produces in a year goods and services for 40 billion euros, pairs to 2.6% of the national Gross Domestic Product one, and appoints to a job about 500 thousand attached total, of which 215 thousand directly. To this an elevated added value, advanced to 59 thousand euros for man-work unit (that is greater of that of other strategic sections of the Made in Italy as feeding, or the textile one joins), with tips between 70 thousand and 95 thousand euros for assigned in the majority of the activities.

The fulcrum of the marine economy - it has evidenced of Friend - is mercantile navigation, with of the activities to it dedicated: the shipowning industry, those harbour with all functions to it tied and that shipbuilding one. The annual production of mercantile navigation is today advanced to 22 billion euros, with a direct occupation of 86 thousand attached and other 160 thousand in the induced one.

Besides that of the economy, Paolo d' Amico has rimarcato also the contribution of mercantile navigation in other fields. It is by now famous to all - he has emphasized - the great profuse engagement from the mercantile ships in the aid of the boat people in waters of the Mediterranean: in 2014 beyond 170 thousand people they are helped in sea, of which beyond the half in the within of the specific mission of our Marina Militare. Remaining 80 thousand the people instead are helped thanks to the activity of the national center of coordination of the aid in sea managed from our Guard Costiera. By such activity, 40 thousand people are directly saved the military units, and other 42 thousand thanks to the competition of the cargo vessels in navigation, called to the aid second the international dispositions in vigor. They are involved in the search activities and aid almost 882 ships and, of these, about 254 have been employees directly for the effective recovery of the boat people in sea. More of the half of the ships engaged in the aids, also as a result of important shunting lines, are unit clappers Italian flag.

Paolo d' Amico has concluded restating the requirement of an effective administrative coordination in marine matter, how much never felt by when the marine competences progressively they are dispersed between more administrations. "The auspice - it has asserted - is that a chain of working command very makes cargo of the problems and carries the solution characterized from the referring politician to its legislative and administrative performance in consistent times to the international standards, characteristic of the marine world".
