the jury has granted a special mention to the port of Guadalupa
November 11, 2015
This year the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) has conferred the ESPO Award 2015 to the port of Dublino to acknowledgment of the strategies adopted from the Irish port of call in order to carry the students of the schools and the university to acquaintance of the port and its activities. Besides the prize assigned to Dublin Port Company, the jury has decided to grant to the port of Guadalupa a special mention for the project "to the discovery of my port".
"Nowadays - the president of the association of the European ports, Santiago Garcia-Milá has commented yesterday, opening the award ceremony held to Brussels - we live in a world in fast evolution. Activities and societies change dramatically. This means that the competences and the requirements of the working staff must be adapted consequently. The places of work that exist today did not exist ten years ago. In Europe - it has found Garci'a Milá - the ports must be adapted to this trend: new equipments, greater variations of the volumes, ships, ulterior globalization, digitalisation of the transports, new environmental norms, challenges of the security, energetic transition. All this - it has emphasized - implies new competences, new challenges, but also new opportunities. Explaining the great variety of competences that they demand, the harbour authorities can help the young people of the local communities to prepare themselves for the life after the school and for to have happened in this world in fast evolution. The schools and the university can also help to adapt own programs to the requirements of the labor market and in order to offer more value to their students".
