Alarm of the WTO: this year the world-wide commerce will only grow of +1.7%



According to the World Trade Organization, this year world-wide the commercial exchanges will grow more slowly of the waits, with an increment limited to +1.7%, very beneath of the forecasts of a rise of +2.8% formulated last April.

To light of the last projections on state of health of the world-wide economy, with world-wide Gross Domestic Product that in the 2016 international organization of the commerce considers will only grow of +2.2%, the rate of growth more contained after the crisis financial institution of 2009, the WTO has see again to the decrease also the forecasts of development of the world-wide commerce in the course of 2017: now an increase comprised between +1.8% and +3.1% is attended, down regarding +3.6% estimated previously.

The World Trade Organization has explained that the review of the esteem on the increase of the total commercial exchanges is consequence of a more important decrease regarding the waits of the world-wide traffics of goods in the first trimester of the 2016 (- 1.1% total one, with a -1,1% of the exports and a -1,0% of the imports) followed from an inferior rise to waits in the quarter next (+0.3%, with a +0.3% of export and a +0.2% of the import).

"The dramatic slow down of the increase of the commerce - it has emphasized the general manager of the WTO, Roberto Azevêdo - is worrisome and would have to constitute an alarm bell, in particular because feeling happens in a context of an increasing anti-globalisation. We must make sure - it has evidenced Azevêdo - than this is not only translate in wrong policies that could return the situation much worse, from the commercial point of view, but also relatively to the creation of occupation and economic increase and development that are so closely legacies to an open system of exchanges".
