A.P. Møller-Mærsk sells the Maersk Tankers to just main shareholder Holding A.P. Moller and to other investor between which the Japanese Mitsui & Co.



Shipowning group Danish A.P. Møller-Mærsk has undersigned today an agreement with its main shareholder Holding A.P. Moller, investment trust of Danish A.P. Møller Foundation, in order to yield them the company of navigation Maersk Tankers that work a fleet of 161 ships product tanker of which 80 of property.

A.P. Moller Holding, that he possesses 42% about of the capital stock of group A.P. Møller-Mærsk, will acquire the company through branch APMH Invest A/S and the transaction, than will not be subject to the authorization of the authorities antritrust and that second the forecasts the next month will be capacity to term, it will have a value of 1,171 billion dollars. The Danish shipowning group has specified that the proceeds deriving from the operation will be used in order to reduce the indebtedness.

With acquisition A.P. Moller Holding will assume also the financial engagements contracts from Maersk Tankers in order to get ahead the program of renewal of own fleet. A.P. Moller Holding has announced that she will share the property of the fleet of the Maersk Tankers with other partner, between which the Japanese Mitsui & Co. Ltd., within a consortium of which A.P. Moller Holding will be the greater shareholder. The agreement with Mitsui & Co., that it will be subject to the green light of the authorities antitrust, is previewed will be carried to term at the beginning of the next year.

Maersk Tankers takes part of group A.P. Møller-Mærsk from 1928 and has 3,100 dependent. To conclusion of the transaction the company will maintain own corporate name and in own brand the star to seven tips will continue to being present that marks the Danish shipowning group.

The cession of Maerks Tankers takes part of the separation of activity in the energetic field from the previewed shipowning group from A.P. Møller-Mærsk in own plan for the creation of the two divisions Trnasport & Logistics and Energy ( on 22 September 2016), separation that already is started with the cession of the oil company Maersk Oil on the Total group announced a month ago ( on 21 August 2017).
