To February the ships journeyed in the Suez Canal transported 77,2 million tons of goods (+5.3%)



Last month the Suez Canal is crossed by 1.353 ships, with an increment of +2.6% on the February 2018, of which 377 oil tankers (+14.6%) and 976 ships of other type (- 1.4%). Total net tonnage of the ships journeyed to February 2019 is piled to 88,5 million tons SCNT (+6.1%), of which 17,3 million relative tons SCNT to oil tankers (+25.3%) and 71,2 million to the units of other type (+2.2%). In this last type of ship the most numerous transits are carried out by portacontainer, with 437 ships (- 2.5%) for 50,4 million tons SCNT (+4.6%), to rinfusiere, with 264 ships (+15.3%) for 9,7 million tons SCNT (+17.7%), from ships for goods general, with 103 ships (+1.0%) for 1,2 million tons SCNT (- 7.4%), from car carrier, with 70 ships (- 6.7%) for 4,4 million tons SCNT (- 6.1%), and from ships for liquified natural gas, with 43 units (- 30.6%) for 4,7 million tons SCNT (-25.5%).

The ships journeyed altogether last month in the channel Egyptian transported a total of 77,2 million tons of goods (+5.3%), of which 40,3 million tons on the ships journeyed from north to south (+2.8%) and 36,9 million boarded tons on the ships journeyed in opposite direction (+8.2%).

More consisting the volumes than boarded cargos on the ships directed to south were constituted by goods containerized (19,5 million tons, 0%), crude oil (3,4 million tons, +0.3%), cereals (2,9 million tons, +8.6%), fuels (2,6 million tons, +22.2%), minerals and metals (2,0 million tons, -20,7%), coal and coke (1,7 million tons, +44.8%), naphta (1,7 million tons, +61.0%) and fertilizers (1,1 million tons, 0%).

The main cargo volumes on the ships journeyed last month in the direction south-north were constituted by containerized cargos (20,4 million tons, +5.7%), crude oil (3,7 million tons, -14,5%), diesel oils (3,0 million tons, +58.6%), gasolines (1,9 million tons, +41.4%), natural gas which liquified (1,5 million tons, +36.1%), produced in metal (1,3 million tons, +34.4%), coal and coke (971 thousand tons, -10,9%) and chemicals (920 thousand tons, -6,1%).

In the first period of two months of the 2019 channel it is crossed totally by 2.869 ships for 184,8 million tons SCNT, with progressions respective of +5.3% and +9.4% on the January-February period last year, of which 827 oil tankers (+15.3%) for 37,4 million tons SCNT (+25.8%) and 2,042 ships of other type (+1.7%) for 147,4 million tons SCNT (+4.2%).

In the first two months of this year the ships journeyed in the channel transported 158,6 million tons of goods (+7.3%), of which 80,2 million boarded tons on the ships directed to south (+8.5%) and 78,4 million tons on those directing to north (+6.1%).
