In March the volumes of goods enlivened by the ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado have increased of +11.9% and +45.4%

In March 2022 the port of Savona-Vado Ligure enlivened a total of 1.25 million tonnes, with a progression of +45.4% on March 2021, a growth of +0.9% on March 2020 and a decrease of -23.8% on March 2019. In the field of miscellaneous goods are were handled 244 thousand tons of goods in container (+4.5%, +54.4% and +332.2%) and 345 thousand tons of other cargoes (+0.2%, -9.3% and -33.6%). Liquid bulk totaled 452 thousand tons (+275.4%, -17.0% and -41.2%) and solid bulk 200 thousand tons (+26.4%, +30.5% and -31.3%).

In the first quarter of this year the port of Genoa has handled a total of 12.93 million tons of goods, volume which, if it is less than 1,94 million tonnes compared to the historical record set in the first quarter of 2007 before the global financial crisis, however, it represents a recovery of +8.9% on the first quarter of 2021, an increase of +3.2% on the first quarter of 2020 and is slightly lower (-1.6%) to the volumes handled in the first three months of 2019. In the sector alone of the various goods containerized loads amounted to 6.03 million tons (+6.5%, -1.6% and +0.3%) and were realized with a container handling pairs to 620 thousand teu (-0.8%, -1.8% and -1.6%), while conventional goods amounted to 2.34 million tons (+6.7%, +11.7% and +3.8%). In the segment of liquid bulk mineral oils amounted to 3.44 million of tons (+18.5%, +4.8% and -4.0%), chemicals at 109 thousand tonnes (-8.8%, -3.6% and -25.8%) and vegetable oils and wine to 81 thousand tons (+73.8%, +67.3% and +58.0%). The solid bulk of the commercial sector totaled 166 thousand tons (-18.1%, +76.5% and -7.3%) and those of the industrial sector 522 thousand tons (+4.5%, +27.5% and -14.0%).

In the first three months of 2022, with the significant easing of mobility limitation measures to resolve the crisis health, passenger traffic in the Genoese port of call showed a recovery, with 49 thousand cruise passengers (+259.6%, -49.7% and -66.4%) and 108 thousand ferry passengers (+24.9%, -6.9% and -18.6%).

The port of Savona-Vado Ligure has archived the first quarter this year with a total of 3.64 million tons of cargoes (+29.0%, +4.0% and -4.5%). The total of only miscellaneous goods is state of 1.62 million tons (+7.2%, +11.9% and +16.4%), including 935 thousand tons of conventional goods (-0.7%, -17.0% and -27.2%) and 684 thousand tons of containerized goods (+20.1%, +113.9% and +542.7%) made with a handling of containers equal to 58 thousand teu (+15.6%, +83.7% and +352.4%). Liquid bulk are attested to 1.51 million tons (+67.0%, -7.0% and -6.8%) and solid ones at 497 thousand tons (+21.7%, +14.8% and -38.3%).

Passenger traffic also resumed in Savona after the total shutdown in the first quarter of last year: in the first three months of 2022 the cruise passengers were 16 thousand and the passengers of the ferries less than 3 thousand, figures still significantly lower than those of 2020 (-76.3% in cruises and -63.0% in ferries) and those of 2019 (-79.2% and -76.0%).
