Today in Copenhagen, on the occasion of a visit to Denmark in Nigerian Minister for Maritime Activities, Adegboyega Oyetola, the group's APM Terminals terminal operator A.P. Møller-Mærsk has signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of the port of Badagry, in the State of of Lagos. The agreement, which commits the parties to negotiate exclusively the construction of the port of call, has been signed by the president of the Danish shipowners' group, Vincent Clerc, and by Didi Ndiomu, managing director of Badagry Port Development Ltd. (BDPL), the concessionaire of the project, and its Quinn McGrath Marine and Environmental Services Ltd.

APM Terminals was involved from the early stages of Design of Nigeria's new deepwater port ( of 20 November 2012). The project has gone through more than one and the new agreement with APM Terminals would seem to be a a sign of a more concrete commitment to implement it after the 3 August 2022, the Nigerian Council of Ministers had approved the Build Own Operate and Transfer concession agreement. The port would occupy an area of 623 hectares and would have docks for a total of four kilometers with a draft of -18 meters that would make the port with the deepest draft and the most extensive quay line in sub-Saharan Africa.
