In the first three months of 2026, Greek ports handled 31.88 million tons of goods, with a sharp decrease of -9.0% on the first quarter of last year which was determined and by the contraction of imported goods and those in exports, which totalled 15.91 million euros respectively tonnes (-5.6%) and 9.42 million tonnes (-15.0%), both from reduction in national traffic which amounted to 6.54 million tons (-7.6%).

The Hellenic Statistical Authority announced today that the passenger traffic, amounting to 4.91 million people, recorded a decrease of -1.0% on the first quarter of 2025. Domestic traffic alone was 4.74 million passengers (-0.7%), while the international one, equal to 169 thousand passengers (-7.2%), suffered declines in both landings and of shipments amounted to 85 thousand (-6.7%) and 83 thousand passengers (-7.8%). The passenger sector appears to be a that, after the growth driven by the post-pandemic tourism boom, with even double-digit increases, is converging towards a substantial stagnation, slipping into negative territory in the last two quarters.

Rolling stock transported by ro-ro and ro-pax ships also decreased which amounted to 2.03 million units (-2.1%), of which 1.90 million units of national traffic (-1.9%) and 139 thousand international traffic (-4.5%).
