Nel biennio 2005-2006 la capacità della flotta mondiale di portacontainer cellulari crescerà del 30%, salendo da 3.362 navi per una capacità totale di 7.294.271 teu al 1' gennaio scorso a 4005 navi per 9.503.022 teu al 1' gennaio 2007. La proiezione è del broker BRS-Alphaliner ed è basata sull'orderbook dei cantieri navali mondiali al 1' aprile scorso. Nel quadriennio 2005-2008 la capacità della flotta di portacontainer cellulari aumenterà del 61% attestandosi a 11.734.817 teu al 1' gennaio 2009.
Da rilevare il : nel biennio 2005-2006 salirà del 67,4% a 658.450 teu e nel quadriennio 2005-2008 crescerà del 369,4% a 1.846.437 teu.
