Lo scorso anno il traffico passeggeri e merci negli aeroporti di tutto il mondo è cresciuto rispettivamente del 6% e del 3%. Lo ha reso noto martedì scorso l'Airports Council International (ACI), sottolineando che l'occupazione negli aeroporti ammonta a circa 4,5 milioni di persone.
Nel 2005 il traffico dei passeggeri negli aeroporti è stato di quattro miliardi di unità (+6%), di cui 1,6 miliardi di passeggeri internazionali (+8%). Il maggior incremento di traffico è stato registrato nelle regioni dell'America Latina/Caraibi (+10%) e del Medio Oriente (+10%), seguite da Africa (+9%), Asia/Pacifico (+7%), Europa (+7%) e Nord America (+4%).
Lo scorso anno il traffico delle merci (inclusa la posta) è stato di 78,7 milioni di tonnellate (+3%), di cui 42,7 milioni di tonnellate di merci internazionali (+3%). Il maggior tasso di crescita è stato registrato nel Medio Oriente (+8%), seguito da Africa (+7%), Asia/Pacifico (+5%), Europa (+3%) e America Latina/Caraibi (+1%), mentre è rimasto stabile nel Nord America.
