 Nel primo trimestre di quest'anno i porti dell'Arabia Saudita hanno movimentato complessivamente 30.858.707 tonnellate di merci, con un calo dello 0,4% rispetto al corrispondente periodo del 2005. Gli sbarchi sono aumentati del 5,8% a 12.441.976 tonnellate, mentre gli imbarchi sono diminuiti del 4,5% a 18.416.731 tonnellate.
Il maggior volume di traffico è rappresentato dalle esportazioni di prodotti petrolchimici e raffinati, che hanno totalizzato rispettivamente 5.203.069 tonnellate (+7,5%) 9.547.137 tonnellate (-14,6%). Il traffico dei container è stato pari a 887.419 teu (+4,4%), di cui 350.864 teu in transhipment (+4,5%).
