Nei primi tre mesi di quest'anno il traffico nel porto di Vancouver è diminuito del 20,9%

Nel primo trimestre del 2009 il traffico nel porto di Vancouver è diminuito complessivamente del 20,9% attestandosi a 22,9 milioni di tonnellate rispetto a 29,0 milioni nei primi tre mesi dello scorso anno. A parte il settore delle rinfuse liquide, che ha totalizzato un incremento del 9,9% a 2,6 milioni di tonnellate, tutti gli altri comparti hanno registrato una contrazione dei volumi movimentati: i container sono diminuiti del 15,5% a 4,3 milioni di tonnellate (in teu il traffico è stato di 491.519 unità, -15,6%), le merci sfuse e i rotabili sono calati del 37,7% e del 19,0% a 3,2 milioni e 92mila tonnellate e la flessione delle rinfuse solide è stata del 21,6% a 12,7 milioni di tonnellate.

Le esportazioni e le importazioni attraverso lo scalo canadese sono diminuite del 15,4% e del 36,6%. Il traffico nazionale è calato del 41,8%, quello internazionale dell'11,8%.
