The European Sea Port Organisation anticipates the new EcoPorts portal



Today to Venice, in the within of the first day of the conferences "GreenPort Logistics" and "Energy for Green Ports", the European Sea Port Organisation (ESPO) has introduced the launch of the new portal Internet EcoPorts that marks integration of the EcoPorts foundation in the structure of the association of the European ports.

Through the portal, to the www.ecoports.com address, ESPO it has the objective to offer to the European harbour authorities I use it of the systems Self Diagnosis Method (SDM) and Port Environmental Review System (PERS) for the appraisal of the environmental performances of the ports, that they are dawned in order to be returned available the ESPO associates on-line.

In particular, the portal anticipates a version on-line of the system SDM that offers visibility port to the authorities that reach and maintain the status of "Ecoports port", that it can be obtained recording the agency through the new system and compiling the questionnaire via Internet. Such activity - it has explained ESPO - that will allow to have of an updated analysis of the environmental management of the European ports. Moreover the status of "Ecoports port" will allow to obtain to approach and to achieve the certification by the system PERS that - the association has remembered - is the only standard of the specific environmental management for the harbour field.

"ESPO - the general secretary of the association has declared, Patrick Verhoeven - is in an only position in order to encourage the best practice between its associate ports and in order to fix objectives ambitiouses. Integration of EcoPorts inside of the ESPO structure and the new website take part of such process. We are convinced that the new system will ulteriorly provoke the interest of the ports to join to the EcoPorts Network and to use the instruments and the services available. In this way we can accelerate the meaningful progresses completed from the European harbour field in the field of the environmental management in the course of last the 15 years".

Attalmente takes part of the net of the EcoPorts ports the Associated British Ports (ABP) with the ports of call of Hull, Goole, Immingham and Grimsby, the other British ports of Milford Haven and Rye Harbour, Dublin Port Company, the Chambre de Commerce ET of Industries de Calais, the Spanish port of Castellón, the German ports of Brunsbuttel and Amburgo, the Belgian port of Brussels, the Dutch ports of Groningen and Harlingen and the Greek port of the Pireo.
