NYK, MOL and "K" Linens record not satisfactory quarterly economic performances in the segment of the line services



The three main Japanese shipowning societies Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ("K" Linens) have announced today the achieved economic results in according to trimester of fiscal year 2015, period that is finished 30th September and in which a bending of the performances in the field of the marine transport of the container is recorded in particular.

Group NYK has concluded the trimester with a profit of clearly 11,7 billion yen (97 million dollars), in increase of +19.6% regarding 9,8 billion yen in the period July-september last year. The revenues are increased of +2.2% to 609,6 billion yen and the operating profit is gone up of +29.6% to 21,2 billion yen.

In the segment of containerized transport NYK it has recorded a recurrent profit of 3,9 billion yen (- 23.5%) on revenues for 194,1 billion yen (+9.5%), while in the section of the marine bulk transport the group has recorded a recurrent profit of 12,8 billion yen (+17.4%) on revenues for 245,6 billion yen (+0.1%).

The group MOL has closed the period July-september of this year with a net loss of -13,0 billion yen respect to a profit of clearly 3,0 billion yen in the same period of 2014. The revenues are increased of +2.0% to 455,2 billion yen and the operating profit has been pairs to 6,4 billion yen regarding 268 million yen in according to trimester of fiscal year 2014.

The single segment of the services of line of MOL has concluded the trimester July-september of the 2015 with an ordinary loss of -4,2 billion yen respect to an ordinary loss of -4,7 billion yen in the same period last year and the revenues are diminished of -1,0% to the 195,2 billion one yen. In the quarter conclusosi 30th September the fleet of portacontenitori of the company has transported volumes pairs to 1,0 million teu (- 10.9%). On the sun broken Asia-Europe 11.3%) and on that Asia-North America 309 thousand teu (+8.8% are transported 180 thousand teu (-). In the field of the marine bulk transport the group MOL has recorded revenues pairs to 221,4 billion yen (+7.8%) and an ordinary profit of 18,3 billion yen (+221.2%).

In according to trimester of the fiscal year 2015 "K" Linens have recorded a contraction of the -2,1% of the revenues, that they are come down to 332,9 billion yen regarding 340,0 billion yen in the quarter July-september of the exercise precedence. The operating profit has been halved attesting itself to 7,5 billion yen (- 50.5%) and the profit clearly is dropped of -91,2% to the 1,5 billion one yen.

Of the two main segments of business of "K" Linens, that of the marine transport of the container has archived item the second trimester of exercise 2015 with an ordinary loss pairs to -986 million yen respect to an ordinary profit of 7,3 billion yen in the correspondent period of the exercise precedence, and the revenues have totaled a bending of -3,0% to the 165,9 billion one yen. In the period July-september of this year the fleet of portacontainer of the company has recorded a strong contraction of the volumes transported on the Asia-Europe routes, that they are piled to 103 thousand teu (- 20.2%), while the volumes transported on the routes America Asia-North have grown of +7.8% to 248 thousand teu. In the segment of the bulk transport "K" Linens have achieved an ordinary profit of 8,4 billion yen (- 24.0%) on revenues for 150,5 billion yen (+1.1%).
