The MIT announces the next institution of the AdSP of the Strait of Messina with jurisdiction on the ports of Messina, Milazzo, Reggio Calabria and Villa San Giovanni



The jurisdiction of the Authority of Harbour System of the Strait, one of the 15 Authorities of Harbour System instituted by decrees of summer 2016 of "Reorganization, rationalization and simplification of the harbour authorities" with the amalgamation of the precedence 24 Italian Harbour Authorities, will not cover ten ports of the Calabria and the Sicily oriental.

The Ministry of Infrastructures and the Transports has announced, in fact, than, on impulse of minister Danilo Toninelli, it will be created to the sixteenth Authority of Harbour System, that is the Authority of the Strait of Messina to which the ports of Messina and Milazzo will be under responsibility for Sicily and of Reggio Calabria and Villa San Giovanni for the Calabria.

The ministry has specified that "the choice goes in the direction of protecting and valuing the peculiarity of the Strait of Messina, a territory highly behind the eight ball and crossed every day from many passengers, many of which pendular. To these people it is right to give a service of adequate transport and for this the necessity is emerged to ad hoc equip the zone of an Authority of Harbour System".

"The reform of the ports intentional from the government precedence - the note of the ministry continues - in fact has previewed to centralize in the authority of harbour district of Gioia Tauro also the competence on all the traffic in the Strait.
