Agreement ITF - ICS on the adaptation of the minimal salary of the marine ones



The international union International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), in representation of the workers of the sea, and the shipowning association international International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), in representation of the navigation companies, has reached an agreement on the adaptation of the minimal salary of the marine ones. After two days of negotiations in the within of the Subcommittee on the Maritime salaries of the marine ones of Joint the Commission, organism that is under responsibility of the International Labour Organization (ILO), negotiates that they are finished yesterday to Geneva and that initially they were in program for 20 and 21 june slid, is of the characterized salary of the sailors, for a total increase of +4.5% of the salaries regarding the current base of 614 dollars subdivided in an increase of four dollars beginning from on July 1°, 2019 followed from an increase of seven dollars from the 1° January 2020 in order to end with a last increase of 16 dollars from on January 1°, 2021.

The spokesman of the shipowning part, Max Johns, that he is general manager of the association of the German shipowners, has agreed on the positive outcome of the negotiations for both the parts: "as a result of a lively debate on the current difficult challenges with which our field is confronted and on the importance to preserve the future occupation for the seafarers - has said Johns - I am pleased to announce that we are successful to work together in order to reach to an acceptable result for both the parts".
