Today in Cagliari the final event to present the results of the "ISIDE" project

The activity involved three and a half years of studies, simulations, result analysis and continuous comparisons at the level partnership. The project involved eight partners: University of the Studies of Cagliari UNICA-CIREM; SIIT - Intelligent Systems Integrated and Technologies Joint Stock Consortium Company (Scpa); ITCG - General Command of the Corps of Port Authorities - Coast Guard; Port System Authority of the Sea Northern Tyrrhenian Sea and the Sea of Sardinia; NAVIGO; Room of Trade of Bastia and Upper Corsica; Chamber of Commerce of the Var. The economic resources used within the project are amounted to €2.3 million, of which over €1.9 million was funds ERDF.

The field-tested prototype - with accident simulations between boats in the ports of Genoa, Cagliari, Livorno, Toulon and Bastia and monitoring of the stress levels of the people involved - is able to report the VHF AIS signal used for communications at sea directly on installable applications in smartphones and smartwatches, making it usable and always available the technology that, in the event of an accident, will be in able to replace the "human factor" in the delicate communication phase with the operations centers of the Capitanerie di Port.

Two technical activities are planned. The first is was dedicated to the analysis of the regulatory framework, the factors of incidentalities and the tools currently available for sea-land communications; at the same time, through a study in the field and several focus groups, the main ones were involved operators for the definition of new communication protocols from undergo tests in a special laboratory.

During the second activity it was designed an integrated and common ICT infrastructure for maritime and land communications, field-tested with simulations of accidents in the partners' ports of reference projects (Liguria, Sardinia, Tuscany, Var and Corsica) and stress tests on new models of boat-central communication Operating. Initiatives, the latter, which have seen the involvement of men, naval and air vehicles of the Italian Port Authorities and Their French counterparts.

Once the prototype phase has been passed, the product can be made available on the market and therefore fully usable in the maritime field, with obvious benefits in the reduction of incidents that, as reported in the in-depth analysis of the documents ISIDE's designs, are determined, for a 17%, by specifications communication problems and, from an 80%, from conditions related to the human factor. These aspects are on which technology it would intervene by bringing the incidence back to zero.
