
Italy's Fincantieri has signed a new memorandum of
undestanding with the UAE Edge with the aim of expanding and
strengthen the agreement signed in Paris last November in the
of diving

November 2024). The new agreement aims to further consolidate
the partnership between the two companies through Maestral, their joint venture
Abu Dhabi-based shipbuilding venture
(

May 2024). The agreement is based on the collaboration between the two
companies to develop underwater technologies, supporting
UAE in becoming a regional benchmark
in innovation in this area.
The cooperation between Fincantieri and Edge, which - specified
today the two companies - was born in a context of rapid evolution
national defence, will be focused on the design,
development and implementation of unmanned systems for the protection of
underwater critical infrastructure and seabed mapping,
new generation submarines, drone carriers and light torpedoes.
Fincantieri and Edge underlined that exposure to
threats make critical subsea infrastructure a target for
whose protection cannot be separated from technological solutions
thus highlighting the pressing need to be
governments to invest in this area.
