The port of Rijeka plans to close 2026 with traffic of record containers of 800 thousand TEUs, with an increase close to +40% compared to last year. This was stated by the director of the Rijeka Port Authority, Denis Vukorepa, speaking yesterday at the international conference Moving Adria in course in Opatija. Specifying that in 2027 traffic containerized could already rise to one million TEUs, Vukorepa pointed out that with the entry into operation of the new container terminal Zagreb Deep Sea on the island of Krk ( of 7 March 2023), traffic capacity may exceed five million TEUs over the next ten years, making Rijeka one of the ten largest ports European containers. The director of the port authority specified that, with the completion of the second phase of the new terminal for containers, annual traffic could rise to 1.7 million TEUs.
