Yesterday evening the first of the 18 caissons that will make up the breakwater to protect against weather conditions adverse marine conditions of the regasification vessel FSRU BW Singapore which was installed by Snam off the coast Ravenna. The work, worth over 200 million euros, is was entrusted by the Port System Authority of the Sea Central and Northern Adriatic to the grouping of companies with parent company RCM Costruzioni together with the Spanish group Acciona.

The project of the dam, which will be about 900 meters long, provides for the positioning of the 18 concrete cell caissons each measuring 53 by 22 meters. The artifacts are already prefabricated inside the port of Ravenna thanks to the monumental Kugira Dos floating dock, one of the largest in the entire Mediterranean Sea. So far, there are already ten caissons have been completed and the eleventh is being preparation.

The first caisson was towed along the Canal Candiano for about six miles to the destination site engaging a convoy made up of tugboats and vehicles of the moorers. Once on the spot, the body was laid down with extreme precision on a stone basing bench previously prepared on the seabed at a depth of -17 meters, already consolidated through the construction of over 26 thousand gravel columns. Precision positioning and sinking controlled were also managed with the help of a team of divers and constantly monitored by topographic systems GNSS satellite networks. The entire operation was coordinated and is carried out under the strict and constant supervision of the Harbour Master's Office - Ravenna Coast Guard, which guaranteed the safety of navigation and maritime activities, and port workers.

Once the first caissons have been positioned, at the same time as the completion of the installation, starting next year it will be Construction of the superstructures and the wave wall has begun 10 and a half meters above sea level. The timetable sets the completion of the activities by the end of 2027.

Since its entry into operation in spring 2025, the BW Singapore regasification terminal has helped to ensure further diversification of natural gas supplies in the Country receiving, to date, over 30 cargoes of natural gas liquefied.
