L'impatto della chiusura ai traffici dei porti della West Coast statunitense, verificatasi dal 29 settembre al 9 ottobre scorsi, è stato fortemente negativo, come evidenziano i dati sui volumi containerizzati totalizzati sulle rotte transpacifiche resi noti oggi dal Research Cooperation Office della compagnia di navigazione giapponese Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL).
Nello scorso mese di ottobre i traffici eastbound dall'Asia verso gli Stati Uniti sono stati pari a 740.067 teu, con un incremento dell'8,2% rispetto all'ottobre 2001 e con una flessione dell'8,5% rispetto al settembre di quest'anno. Il volume - ha rilevato MOL - è rimasto comunque oltre i 700.000 teu per il settimo mese consecutivo.
Nello scorso ottobre i traffici westbound dagli USA all'Asia sono ammontati a 222.936 teu, con un calo del 21,5% rispetto all'ottobre 2001 e con una diminuzione del 7,3% rispetto al settembre 2002.
