Nel 2003 la Dubai Ports Authority (DPA), che gestisce i porti di Jebel Ali e Port Rashid, ha registrato un traffico container pari a 5.151.958 teu, di cui 2.615.207 in transhipment, con una progressione del 23% rispetto ai 4.194.265 teu movimentati nel 2002.
