The scope of the second edition of the project "Wind and ports" is extended to the sea



The second edition of the project "Wind and ports", whose presentation is on today to the Chamber of Commerce of Savona, becomes rich of another element besides the forecast of the wind for the management and safety of the harbour areas. The scope of the initiative is extended in fact to the sea, with the objective to increase to every marine activity the controls in order to assure the always greater safety. The second part of the progettuale model, that it constitutes the prosecuzione and the potenziamento of that realized in the three years precedence, in fact is called "Wind and Ports and Sea".

The origin project has developed a net of monitoring, a numerical modellistica, a mapping statistics and a system of forecasts to focused mean and short term on the wind and the harbour area in strict sense. The winning idea of the second edition has been to extend the net of monitoring, the numerical modellistica and in the mid term forecasts to the billowy motion and the before watery mirror to the ports partner: besides Savona, Genoa, Livorno, La Spezia, Fortification and the Department of Civil engineering, Chemical and Environmental (DICCA) of the University of Genoa, which scientific actuator of the project.

The integrated system wind-waves that will be realized will afford to increase safety and accessibility of the ports in relation to the conditions local weather-navy. The relative data to the monitoring and the forecasts will be made available to the harbour users through an upgrade of the system web-GIS realized for the project "Wind and Ports" and the realization of a new interface for smartphone.

The potenziamento of the net of local monitoring put in work for the project "Wind and Ports" has the objective to acquire, always in real time, a range wider than given weather-it play hooky. Such objective is persecuted increasing to the measure points, diversifying the measured physical largenesses, widening the horizon of the measures as well as in height how much on the front sea.
