the port of Tanger Med will close 2013 with an increase of 37% of the traffic of the container



The Harbour Authority of Tanger Med previews that the Moroccan port, that it has begun the activity to half 2007 with the inauguration of terminal APM Terminals Tangier ( on 23 July 2007), pairs to about 2,5 million archivierà 2013 with a volume of traffic of the container enlivened teu, with a progression of enlivened +37% regarding 1,8 million teu in 2012, year in which era recorded a decrease of the -13% on 2011. The Moroccan harbour agency has evidenced that 2013 mark the return to the normal course of increase of the traffic of the container in the port of Tanger Med after two years characterized from a series of strikes that have reduced the activity on the docks.

Møller-Mærsk) and Moroccan group AKWA, and that it has a traffic ability pairs to 1,3 million teu, and the Terminal to Conteneurs 2 (TC2) that it has entered in service to half 2008 ( on 17 July 2007), it has a traffic ability pairs to 1,3 million teu and is managed by the Eurogate Tanger, society participated from the terminalista group Eurogate/Contship Italy (50%), from the shipowning group Helvetic Mediterranean Shipping Company (20%), from the French shipowning group CMA CGM (20%) and from the marine company Moroccan Comanav (10%).

In order to resolve the problem of previewed the next saturation of the current ability, on half 2009 the work for the realization of the second phase of the project of the port is started ( on 18 June 2009), than second the current esteem it will become operating at the beginning of the 2015 with the inauguration of the Terminal to Conteneurs 4 (TC4) that it will be managed by the terminalista society Moroccan Marsa Maroc ( on 8 July 2008). In order to finance the work of realization of the second phase of the project of the port, in recent days the ministry of the Economy and Finances of Morocco and the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (FADES), the institution founded in 1971 with the objective to support the Arabic Countries in their economic and social development, has undersigned a specific contract that guarantees ulterior bottoms for about 1,5 billion dirham (about 132 million euros) for the construction of harbour infrastructures. In the 2010 Arabic Bottom it had already participated with 1,4 billion dirham to the financing of the first tranche of work of Tanger Med 2.
