In 2010, the Danish shipping group DFDS posted revenues of 9.867 billion kroner (1.3 billion euro), an increase of 50.5% compared to 6.555 billion DKK during the previous year. Approximately 75% of this increase was generated from the acquisition of the company Norfolkline cedutale by compatriot AP Moller-Maersk ( of 17 December 2009, 18 June and 13 July 2010).
Last year operating profit (EBITDA) amounted to DKK 1,273 million (+58%) before extraordinary items (which in 2010 were compared +102 million to -71 million in 2009). Profit before tax was 547 million Danish kroner compared to 20 million in 2009.
"The integration of Norfolkline - said today the president and CEO, Niels Smedegaard - is proceeding more quickly and better than expected. The results of 2010 and the outlook for 2011 shows clearly that the acquisition has created value. Later this year we expect that the synergies will reach a value of about 180 million crowns on an annual basis. " Smedegaard stressed that DFDS has created value for its shareholders through the sale and closure of loss-making routes ( of 3 December 2010).
DFDS expects to achieve further growth in 2011 EBITDA before special items to about 1.5 billion Danish kroner.
