Last month, the traffic of goods in the port of Genoa has increased by 1, 9% to 4.45 million tonnes compared to 4.37 million tons handled in May 2010. The cargo amounted to a total of 2.31 million tons (0%), of which 1.57 million tons of containerized cargo (+1.2%) and 737mila tons of conventional cargo (-2.6%). The container traffic in terms of 20 'containers amounted to 159,755 TEUs (+4.5%).
In the dry bulk sector were handled 49mila tonnes (-73.9%) in addition to other 374mila tons in the industrial sector (+35.1%), of which 15 thousand dry bulk (-53.8%) and 359mila of iron and steel (+47.1%).
The mineral traffic totaled 1.55 million tons (+9.3%) and 84 thousand tons of other liquid bulk (+31.4%).
The bunkers and stores totaled 91mila tons (-21.6%).
In the field of passenger traffic was 205mila units (-24.4%), of which 83mila at the cruise terminal (-0.9%) and 122mila ferry terminal (-16.4%).
In the first five months of 2011 the port of Genoa has handled a total of 22.04 million tonnes of cargo, with an increase of 6.3% over the same period last year. The cargoes were 11.30000000 tons (+6.2%), of which 7.76 million tons of containerized goods (+7.1%) and 3.54 million tons of conventional cargo (+ 4.3%). Containerized TEUs in container traffic was 757,729 units (+7.0%).
In the period from January to May this year the dry bulk terminal at the Ponte San Giorgio were 521mila tons (-15.0%) and those of industry 1.77 million tonnes (+38.2%), of which 84 thousand tons of dry bulk cargo (-2.5%) and 1.68 million tons of steel (+41.2%). Mineral oils amounted to a total of 7.55 million tons (+2.6%) and other liquid bulk 412mila tons (+11.6%).
In the first five months of this year, passenger traffic was 731mila units (-6.4%), of which 449mila ferry terminal (-10.4%) and 282mila to the cruise terminal (+0.9%) .
