The Norwegian shipping company Odfjell has entered into a partnership agreement with the American company with private equity firm Lindsay Goldberg, the objective of investing in the sector of port terminals for liquid bulk cargo in Europe and North America.
The agreement provides that the U.S. company acquires 49% stake in Odfjell terminals of the port of Rotterdam, which is operated through its subsidiary Odfjell Terminals (Rotterdam) BV, and the port of Houston, which is operated by subsidiary Odfjell Terminals (Houston) Inc., and the terminal that the company has under construction in the Norwegian port of Charlerston. Odfjell will retain the remaining 51% stake.
The agreement, which will be completed by the end of next month, also provides that Lindsay Goldberg Odjell corresponds to a figure of 247 million dollars and that both partners invest a total of 25 million euros for a capital increase designed to boost the terminal Rotterdam.
The object of the terminals have a combined capacity of approximately two million cubic meters and employ 465 people.
The value of the terminals in Rotterdam and Houston at the end of 2010 was set at 539.9 million dollars. Last year, the terminal activities in the two terminals of Odfjell generated revenues of $ 188.7 million (198.0000000 in 2009) and a net profit of 34.4 million dollars (41.7 million).
