The new terminal, that it occupies an area of 8.415 square metres, has a line of dock of 284 meters with depth of the -11 backdrop meters. With the new terminal the number of cruise ships is gone up until ten that the port of the Pireo can receive at the same time.

In the course of the ceremony the minister has emphasized that 2016 have been a good year for tourism in Greece, year - he has specified - than will conclude himself with a new increase after the record of last year 26 million presences. Kountoura has specified that 2016 a lot important also for the field of the cruises has been a year and it has been above all for the port of the Pireo, where in the first eight months of the year the arrivals of foreign passengers is increased of +17% regarding the same period of 2015.

The minister has remembered that an ulterior development of the section of the cruises to the Pireo is previewed where, thanks to the extension to south of the port, will be able to land great cruise ships of beyond 300 meters of length. Kountoura has evidenced that to the effort in order to develop the field of the cruises it contributes in meaningful way group COSCO, that has shown remarkable interest and confidence having invested in Greece.

From part its Xu Lirong has remembered that the market of the cruises is recording a great development in Far East, and in particular China, since - he has explained - there is great question of tourism after the opening and the reforms happened in China that have carried economic pr0sperity. Lirong has explained that crocieristico tourism has become a real fashion in China, than the Chineses more and more knows the Greece that has become an attraction for thousands of Chinese tourists.

Lirong has confirmed that group COSCO Shipping will carry out new investments in order to improve the services and the competitiveness of the section of the cruises in the port of the Pireo with the objective to elevate the traffic that now - it has remembered - is pairs to about a million passengers, in order to carry it in the short term to 1,5 million crocieristi and in the long period to three million.
