China and Russia are come to an agreement in order to start the operativity of the Way of the Polar Silk



If in 2013 Chinese president XI Jinping it had announced I throw again of the Way of the Silk which historical connection between the East and the West, proposing some before a terrestrial development and then also one for marine way useful in order to strengthen ulteriorly the connections between the Chinese ports and those Europeans through the Suez Canal, today is announced an initiative for giving to operativity to the third director of connection between the Far East and the Europe that passes through the Arctic seas, called Via of the Polar Silk.

In order to use this third Via, nowadays more navigable for the decrease of the ice presence in the region, the involvement of Russia was indispensable also since a good part of the route journeys in front of its coast. Participation that is obtained today in the picture of the agreements which signed from Russia and China in occasion of the visit of president Xi Jinping to Moscow.

If Jinping and Russian president Vladimir Putin have undersigned a series of agreements of cooperation strategic between which one in order to promote the sustainable development of the Arctic region, today to Saint Petersburg, in the within of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019 and to the presence for the Russian part of the vice Russian prime Minister Maxim Akimov, the vice minister to the Transports, Yuriy Tsvetkov, and of the vice minister to the economic Development, Oksana Tarasenko, is signed an understanding in order to develop the Arctic marine route.

The agreement today is signed by Sergey Frank, president and managing director of the company shipowning Russian Sovcomflot in whose directive two vice ministers Tsvetkov and Tarasenko reside also, by Leonid Mikhelson, president of Board Management of the Novatek, energetic company that are the main Russian independent which liquified natural gas producer, by Xu Lirong, president of shipowning group Chinese COSCO Shipping, and by Wang Yanzhi, president of senior management of Silk Road Fund, the bottom of the Chinese government in order to promote the investments long the New Via of the Silk.

The understanding previews the constitution of Maritime joint venture Arctic Transport LLC, marine company that will be equipped of a fleet of ships ice-class already in service and of ships of new construction that will take care of natural the gas transport which liquified to service of the projects in course and future of the Novatek. Moreover the agreement previews the collaboration to the development of the marine traffic along the Northern Sea Route in order to connect Asia with western Europe. In particular, the parts have specified that this initiative will contribute to promote the ulterior development of the Arctic route which corridor of total commercial exchanges between the basins of the Pacific and the Atlantic.
