In the first five months of 2026, Egypt's waterway is was crossed globally by 5,696 ships, with an increase of +12.7% on the same period of last year, of which 2,429 tankers (+24.0%) and 3,267 other types of ships (+5.6%). The tonnage of ships transited was equal to 249.9 million tonnes (+26.1%) and the of transit payments amounted to £100.3 billion Egyptians (+26.8%).
