
The Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Cyprus
Ünal Üstel, announced that
arrest status the captain and seven crew members of the
Filo Jet fast ferry of the company Filo Denizcilik
sunk yesterday off Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus. The incident
caused the death of eight people, while another 17 passengers
are currently missing. The other 234 passengers on board the
catamaran were rescued. The ferry had departed from
Kyrenia port bound for Tasucu, Turkey, but the difficult
weather and sea conditions had led the commander to return
in the slipway. However, the boat capsized before
return to port.
