Il porto statunitense di Tacoma sta registrando una forte progressione del traffico container, che nei primi tre mesi di quest'anno è stato pari a 393.084 teu, con un incremento del 32,7% rispetto al primo trimestre del 2002. Nel settore dei traffici internazionali la movimentazione è stata pari a 288.911 teu, con una crescita del 53,3% sul primo trimestre dello scorso anno, mentre nel comparto dei traffici nazionali la movimentazione è calata del 3,4% a 104.173 teu.
Complessivamente il traffico di merci containerizzate è ammontato a 2.991.965 tonnellate (+36,7%).
