Yesterday the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Italian Railway Network (RFI), Maurizio Gentile, and the Chairman of the Port Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea, Pine Musolino, have signed an agreement, which will be subsequently also signed by the Region of Veneto, to improve the railway infrastructure in service of the Port of Venice with the design and realization of infrastructure enhancement interventions in the Railway Understandings of Venice Marghera Sdropping, strategic logistics node of the territory and the European network for the TEN-T rail corridors.
The necessary interventions to improve the management and infrastructure efficiency in the Comprensorio-whose railway system includes 65 kilometres of network, an entry station into the national network, three railway parks, a business maneuver railway and 25 agreed terminals-were identified by the working group set up in February 2018 with the underwriting of a first memorandum of understanding.
In 2019, a first phase of intervention was planned at Marghera Sdropping station for the equipping of additional electrified tracks and the adjustment of the 750 metre (European train length standard) module, which will be followed via the course of the years further phases of technological intervention (realization of a new computerized Central apparatus) and infrastructure.
