In the first three months of 2020, the traffic of goods handled by the port of Antwerp was 59.1 million tonnes, an increase of 4.0% percent on the corresponding period last year that was generated mainly by the growth of the containerized traffic attested to 35.9 million tonnes (+ 9.4%) and totaled with an handling of containers equal to over 3.0 million teu (+ 9.5%). In addition, solid bulk sales amounted to 3.2 million tonnes (+ 1.2%), while almost stable resulted in the traffic of liquid bulk bulk which, with 17.2 million tonnes, recorded a slight uptickdown of 0.7% on the first quarter of 2019. However, the downturn of the rotable, with 1.1 million tonnes, marked a decline of -20.3% percent and the reduction in the volume of traffic in conventional goods, which, with 1.7 million tonnes, fell by -27.8% percent.
