Last night a fire broke out in the port of Naples in
Cruise line
Phoenix ferry
Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV) moored at quay no. 29. The
operations room of the Harbour Master's Office - Coast Guard of
Naples was alerted by the La Nuova Meccanica construction site
Naval Shipyard where technical maintenance was underway on the
ship, which was therefore not operational and there were no passengers on board
but only some crew members and shipyard technicians.
Specialized teams of the Fire Brigade of the
Provincial Command of Naples are, while at sea three
tugboats of the Neapolitan Tugboats, a patrol boat
fire-fighting fire brigade and, in support, a naval vehicle
S.A.R. of the Coast Guard which, with the use of
fire cannons and hydrants, carried out the operations of
cooling of the areas of the ship affected by the fire.
The Maritime Directorate of Campania has announced that the
maritime traffic and commercial operations in the port of Naples
have never been suspended as the accident has neither
hindered or threatened the safety of the activities
maritime and port areas, with the exception of the quays where it is
moored the Phoenix and the stretch of sea in front.
