Wärstilä has closed first semester 2016 with a profit clearly of 101 million euros (- 48.2%)



In the first half of the 2016 Finnish group Wärstilä, specialized in the realization of systems for the generation of energy for the marine and terrestrial field, it has recorded a turnover clearly of 2,16 billion euros, with a bending of the -2,5% on the first six months last year. The operating profit is diminished of the -24,5% attesting itself to 179 million euros and the profit clearly is piled to 101 million euros (- 48.2%). In the first semester of this year the group has obtained new orders for a total value of 1,19 billion euros (+3.0%) and the value of the orderbook on 30 June has turned out pairs to 5,08 billion euros, with a decrease of the -4,5% on on June 30, 2015.

The single Marine Solutions division, that it develops and it realizes mainly systems of generation of energy and propulsion for the field of the marine transport, has closed the first semester of this year with a turnover clearly of 675 million euros, in increase of +13.8% on the same period of 2015. In the first half of the 2016 division it has confiscated new orders for 741 million euros (+1.8%) and the value of the pocketbook orders on 30 June has turned out pairs to 2,49 billion euros (- 10.7%).

In the second solo trimester of the 2016 Wärstilä group has totaled a profit clearly of 41 million euros on a turnover clearly of 1,20 billion euros, with contractions respective of the -62,4% and the -2,8% on the correspondent period last year. The operating profit is piled to 96 million euros (- 29.9%). In the period April-june of this year the group has obtained new orders for 1,19 billion euros (+3.0%).

In according to trimester of this year Marine Solutions division it has recorded a turnover clearly of 433 million euros (+22.3%) and has obtained new orders for a value of 362 million euros (- 7.7%).

The president and managing director of Wärstilä have declared themselves satisfied of the results achieved in the first semester of 2016: "the turnover clearly - it has found Jaakko Eskola - has remained substantially online with the year precedence, while the level more low than deliveries than systems and the lock out competition in the markets of the energy has had an impact on our operating result. For the future - it has added Eskola - we expect that the deliveries of equipments will be concentrated towards the turn of the year. The collection of orders has been consisting, in great part thanks to the improvement of the expectations of the energetic field, that it has supported the increase of the orders of the division Energy Solutions. Also the orders of the Marine Solutions division have turned out supported regarding the low level of orders of ships, benefitting of the announced activity of I renew of the fleets in the markets of the cruises and the ferries. The turnover clearly in the Services field has grown more slowly, however we consider that in the next trimesters an improvement of the level of activity online with the increase of the volumes will happen. On the base of the current trends of our final markets and the greater uncertainty that the total economy characterizes - it has concluded Eskola - we manifest caution about our relative forecasts to the development of the question".
