The Dutch CVC DIF, specialized in infrastructure investments of the international group CVC Capital Partners, has acquired a majority share in Cernaval, Spanish shipyard specialized in repair, maintenance and conversion of commercial units that holds a long-term concession in the port of Algeciras.
Cernaval, which in 2025 operated on 68 boats, employs about 275 people. The plant has a 400-metre hull, a 230-metre floating basin, docks and workshops.
Explaining that CVC DIF will collaborate with the management of Cernaval in order to favor the further development of the company, focusing on the modernization of the yard, on the expansion of the operational capacities and on the strengthening of the commercial and managerial processes, Fernando Moreno, partner of CVC DIF, has emphasized that "Cernaval enjoys a privileged position in a strategically important port, having specialized structures and a highly qualified team. We believe - it has added - that there are wide margins to further develop the activity through investments in the yard and in its operating capacities".
The acquisition of a quota in Cernaval represents the return of CVC DIF in the marine field, from which it had left last year yielding own participations in the terminalista society Boluda Maritime Terminals and in the terminalista society Total Terminal International Algeciras (TTI Algeciras)(
of 21 August 2025).
