The Italian Confederation of Ship Owners (Confitarma) announced yesterday at its headquarters in Rome was a meeting between shipping companies that operate private services with the Italian islands minor and major, independent consumer associations and trade unions in the sector that was promoted by Luigi Parente, chairman of the Confederation of short sea shipping and CEO of Moby Spa as a result of numerous complaints of consumer price increases for the ferry.
For the independent associations of consumers have spoken and Dino Cimaglia Monica Satolli National Consumers Union at the national and the Region of Sardinia, Francesco and Chiara Mattana Altroconsumo Pincelli of codes and, by proxy, the consumer's home, and Confconsumatori Assoutenti. For private shipping are attended by representatives of Moby Spa, Grimaldi Holding, Grimaldi Group - Naples, Caronte & Tourist, Grandi Navi Veloci, Alilauro-Volaviamare and TTT Lines.
Confitarma stated that at the end of the shipping companies, consumer associations and trade unions have agreed on the urgent request of the government and territorial authorities responsible for the opening of a technical consultation with the involvement of all stakeholders in order to pursue the adoption of urgent measures, taking into account the difficulties of businesses and consumers protect the transport flows to islands in the forthcoming summer season.
