In February, the container traffic at seaports in China, after more than a year of monthly increases of between 13% and 31%, returned to record a progression to a single digit. Last month, in fact, the traffic amounted to a total of 9,950,200 TEUs, an increase of 5.0% compared to February 2010. The traffic in seaports amounted to 8,853,800 teu (+4.0%), while in the river ports amounted to 1,096,400 teu (+13.6%).
Among the major container ports in the nation last month, Shanghai handled 1.94 million TEUs (+3.2%), Shenzhen 1,293,500 teu (-15.8%), Qingdao 975,100 teu (+14.3%), Ningbo-Zhoushan 912,100 teu (+4.4%), Tianjin 758,000 teu (+21.9%) and Guangzhou 707,500 teu (-4.5%).
